ESBiomech2023: Lies, Claire, Fernando, Satanik, Laura and Edoardo will present

Next week, the 28th Congress of the European Society of Biomechanics (ESB 2023) will take place in Maastricht, The Netherlands from 9 to 12 July 2023. Liesbet Geris is one of the four congress chairs; therefore, our group is among the organizers this time.

Some team members will present their research:

  • Claire Villette: “Osteoinductive scaffold design: digital optimisation and prevention of over-specialisation” (podium presentation, 10 July) and “Therapeutic effect of mechanical loading on bone metastasis: a HCA modelling framework” (poster, 12 July)
  • Fernando Pérez-Boerema: “In silico – in vitro mechanical characterization of Ti6Al4V gyroid scaffolds” (podium presentation, 10 July)
  • Satanik Mukherjee: “A multiscale approach to study chondrocyte mechanobiology using a cartilage on chip setup” (podium presentation: ESB student award finalist, 11 July)
  • Laura Lafuente-Gracia: “The role of anatomical location in scaffold-induced healing of craniofacial bone defects” (podium presentation, 12 July)
  • Edoardo Borgiani: “Genetic algorithm to calibrate a multiscale computer model of bone fracture healing” (podium presentation, 12 July)

Note that Satanik has been selected as one of the four finalists for the ESB student award 2023. Good luck!

Additionally, Liesbet Geris will give a perspective talk titled “Building an ecosystem for digital twins in healthcare” on 12 July.
