Several group members presented at VPH 2026 in Milan
The 9th International conference on the Virtual Physiological Human (VPH) took place in Milan, Italy, from 1 to 4 September 2026 . As usual, our group was well represented, with several members presenting their work:
- Amin Asadi: “Knee osteoarthritis multiscale modeling: insight toward population level” (poster & selected flash talk)
- Edoardo Borgiani: “Finite element model of bone inflammation-on-chip to calibrate macrophage mechanobiology” (oral presentation)
- Oriana De Becker: “Towards a reaction-diffusion framework for in silico assessment of healing in breast-conserving surgery” (oral presentation)
- Luiz Ladeira: “A systems approach to reelin-notch signaling to decipher regulatory dynamics in lymphangiogenesis” (oral presentation)
- Laura Lafuente-Gracia: “Multiscale in silico modeling of craniofacial defect healing: from mechanisms to validation” (poster & selected flash talk)
- Sophie Nguyen: “In silico design of mg-based degradable porous scaffolds for the repair of critical-size defects” (poster & selected flash talk)
- Pablo Tejero: “A coupled signaling–metabolic model of chondrocyte states in osteoarthritis” (poster & selected flash talk)
Our PI, Liesbet Geris, who is the executive director of the VPH society, actively participated in numerous sessions throughout the conference. The event offered an excellent opportunity to reconnect with researchers from across the community, including our former colleague Claire Villette, who presented “Multi-physics computational model of metastatic bone remodelling”.
During the conference, our colleague Sophie Bekisz was announced as a new member of the Executive committee, while our colleague Laura Lafuente-Gracia was announced as a new member of the Young Scientist Committee. Finally, Laura was also selected as the winner of the digital twin drawing contest held during the conference.
