Laura joins the ESB Student committee

Our team member Laura has been selected to join the Student committee of the European Society of Biomechanics (https://esbiomech.org/student-section/student-committee/). Congratulations!

Our team members Mojtaba Barzegari and Satanik Mukherjee have been selected to join the Student committee of the Virtual Physiological Human institute (https://www.vph-institute.org/student-committee.html). Congratulations!

Gabriele Nasello brilliantly defended his PhD thesis in Leuven. The thesis is entitled “Bone Regeneration in Patient-Specific Scaffolds: from Microfluidics to Computational Simulation”. Congratulations, Dr. Nasello!

Our team is part of two European projects starting in 2021: In Silico World and ONTOX projects. In In Silico World, our aim will be to develop a computational model to be used for In Silico trials of an Advanced Therapeutic Medicinal Product (ATMP) for the repair of deep osteochondral defects. Laura Lafuente-Gracia and Raphaëlle Lesage were selected as two of the four finalists for the Best VPHi student award at the VPH2020 Conference in Paris, France, 24-28 August, 2020 (held online). Although they did not win the award, their presentations were splendid and we congratulate them. Well done!

Tim Herpelinck won the best poster award at the Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on Bones and Teeth in Galveston, TX, US, 2-7 February, 2020. The title of his poster was “Single-cell transcriptome analysis of periosteum-derived progenitors with enhanced in vivo bone forming capacity”.

Raphaelle Lesage was awarded as the best poster presentation in byteMAL 2019, held in Aachen, September 24. Her poster title was “Merging data-based and mechanistic modelling to study osteoarthritis (OA) development and predict potential intervention targets”.

Mojtaba Barzegari won the best short oral and poster presentation prize in the corrosion topic in Biometal 2019, held in Alicante, 25-30 August. His presentation and poster title was “Mathematical modeling of biodegradation of metal implants in orthopedics”.
